Reverence for the Roots of Wisdom
As a gesture of respect for the difficult path of Self-discovery they have walked and the unwavering compassion and guidance they have offered their students, I bow to the feet of my Guru, Acharya Shunya, and her spiritual Guru, Baba Ayodhyanath, and his Guru, Paramatman Shanti Prakash, all from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Out of gratefulness for their selfless service as Teachers, I hope to share the wisdom they have taught me which brings me more happiness and resilience every day. Any benefit a reader may experience from these articles and sharings is entirely due to the grace of my teachers. Any errors I have made are my own.
About the Writer
My name is Ishani Naidu. A native of the California Bay Area in the US, I live in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India with my husband and two young children. I serve as Editor in Chief of The Hamsa Magazine, a quarterly online magazine for learning and living Advaita Vedanta from Vedika Global based on the Vedanta satsangha teachings of Acharya Shunya.
I conduct talks and workshops for high school and college students and adults on awakening body and mind health awareness and creating a lifestyle that promotes holistic wellbeing with Ayurveda.
Let's explore how the ancient sciences of Ayurveda and Vedanta guide us - even as we navigate the modern world, parent our children, work at our jobs, relate to our partners, contribute to society - to discover in the thick of it all that we are always whole, always peaceful, and can always awaken to our deepest spiritual nature
Ayurveda & Vedanta
Ancient India has gifted humanity Ayurveda, a science of living that shows us lifestyle, diet and self-care practices that promote the innate health surging through every level of our being no matter how diseased we may feel.
Thousands of years ago the Sages also received the wisdom of Vedanta, a spiritual path showing us ways of understanding our minds, making sense of the seemingly chaotic world we seem to be swimming in, and aligning with our life purpose to answer the question of, "Who am I?"
Both of these potent sciences transform lives full of disease, discomfort, and disillusionment into lives lived with joy and endurance regardless of the challenges we face. Ayurveda and Vedanta offer time-tested methods of coming closer to the Soul within that connects all people, nature and the universe.
The awe and pleasure I feel when hearing and studying the teachings of Ayurveda and Vedanta from a timeless and unbroken oral tradition of Gurus and sacred written texts inspires me to keep experimenting with my thoughts, actions, relationships, and lifestyle to experience the One-ness described by the Sages as our true nature.
